Paper Selections for Custom Chinese Calligraphy

Please read the following before making a selection for your “custom made” Chinese calligraphy. All items sold on this website are done on real Xuan Paper (Rice Paper is a misnomer) for respect, quality, and lifetime preservation.

Due to increasing demand and popularity of “colored” and “special featured” Xuan Paper, I suggest that you contact me first to guarantee the availability of those colored or featured papers that are marked with "limited availability" in my inventory. The color of Xuan Paper will last lifetime.

If you want to purchase my work done on those papers and I am running out of stock, it will take approximately one week to get those papers. In this situation, you will receive your order in about two or three weeks. If I do have your desired colored or featured paper in inventory, you should be able to receive your order in 5 to 14 days.

1: White Xuan Paper (Recommended for best compatibility with ink)

White paper is most widely used. Suitable for all purposes except couplets without framing or mounting at the gate. This is due to Chinese superstition and taboo. Couplets with white paper without framing or mounting inside the buildings are acceptable.

2: Watermark - Circles

Especially suitable for couplets with each character written on top of each circle.

Maximum Size: 27 x 52 in            Availability: Limited

Suitable for all purposes.  Ideal for romantic poems.

4: Red with Gold Sparkles

Maximum Size: 27 x 52 in            Availability: ALWAYS

Ideal for lucky words, longevity, lunar new year couplets, Chinese horoscope in 12 animals, marriage ceremonies, and business names.

Unlike the red paper used for couplets hanging by the gate, the red color of this Xuan Paper will last lifetime. So you don’t have to worry it will fade by end of year.
