Appreciation of Chinese Calligraphy

Chinese calligraphy is an art dating back to the earliest history of China. It is still widely practiced throughout China to this day. Although it uses Chinese characters as its only medium of expression, a viewer does not have to know Chinese to appreciate its beauty because Chinese calligraphy is an abstract art. When viewing Chinese calligraphy, one may not need to ask, "What do those Chinese writings mean?", "What is this style?" or even "Who did this?"
